Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using DocsCanary (“the Service”), operated by DocsCanary (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By creating an account, running a free audit, or otherwise using DocsCanary, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
DocsCanary is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that monitors your code repositories and documentation to detect drift — instances where code changes have made your documentation inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. The Service provides:
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service with reasonable notice. For paid plans, material reductions in functionality will entitle affected customers to a prorated refund.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep it updated. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information or violate these Terms.
Free trial. All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start a trial. At the end of the trial period, your card will be charged unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Billing. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are listed on our Pricing page. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
Annual discount. Annual subscriptions are billed upfront and receive a 20% discount compared to monthly billing.
Upgrades and downgrades. You may change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for unused time on monthly plans. Annual plans cancelled within the first 30 days are eligible for a prorated refund.
You agree not to use the Service to:
Violation of acceptable use may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
DocsCanary IP. The Service, including its software, design, algorithms, and AI models, is owned by DocsCanary and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership interest in the Service.
Your content. You retain all ownership rights to your repositories, documentation, and any content you provide. By using the Service, you grant DocsCanary a limited, non-exclusive license to access and process your content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you.
Feedback. If you provide suggestions or feedback about the Service, we may use that feedback without restriction or compensation.
Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In summary: we never store your source code. See our Security page for details.

AI-generated documentation suggestions are provided as recommendations only. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all suggestions before applying them to your documentation.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOCSCANARY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DOCSCANARY IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
You agree to indemnify and hold DocsCanary harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
Either party may terminate the relationship governed by these Terms at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Sections 6 (Intellectual Property), 8 (Disclaimers), 9 (Limitation of Liability), and 10 (Indemnification) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for IP or data security violations.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email (if you have an account) and by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance.
